Adapted from Lansdowne VFD's Website:
23:30 Hours--All of Lansdowne's equipment was out of service on the multi-alarm B. Green fire except Medic 365 which had just returned from the fire. Orchard Beach, the fill-in company, was returning to quarters from handling another incident for Lansdowne when Lansdowne members heard screams and the lieutenant from Engine 113 discovered a fire in the next block of LaVerne Avenue. Orchard Beach dropped about 100' of 3" line from the hydrant at Washington and LaVerne. The engine crew, with the help of Lansdowne firefighters, advanced a 1 3/4 inch line onto the porch to go into the house, and one to the A/D corner to attack the fire under the porch. The fire was quickly brought under control and units were released at approx. 01:30 hours. The cuase of the fire was found to be refueling of a running generator next to a 275 gallon #2 oil tank.
