Busy Saturday for OBVFD

Saturday was a busy day for the boys and girls at Orchard Beach. It started off with last minute scrambling to get crews for the Riviera Beach Parade/Carnival. We were able to get the Tower, Squad, Brush Truck, Ambulance and Chiefs car along with a good showing by the Cadets to make it to the parade. After that, things were slow for a few hours. The Squad and Ambo made it back to the carnival for the awards where Orchard Beach was the big winner of the night, pulling awards for best appearing ambulance and best appearing brush truck. The Cadets won $100.00 for best appearing cadet squad and then we won best appearing company overall with a $200.00 prize.

Then the action started. At about 9:45, the station was alerted for a MVC with a rollover. Responding units included, E112, SQ11, A119 and MU11 and Chief 11. A vehicle traveling east bound on Fort Smallwood rd approaching Chestnut Cove Rd. lost control crossing the median and roll several times before coming to rest on it's wheels. The patient was fortunate to not suffer any life threatning injuries .

Once back at the station, before reports were even completed a call came out about 10:30 for a pedestrian struck on Fort Smallwood at Pittman Rd. Units responding were SQ11, A119, MU31 and Chief 11. Upon arrival, units found a man laying the middle of the west bound lanes of Fort Smallwood Rd. with Multiple injuries. Patient was transported to Shock Truama by A119 with EMS1 and a medic from MU31 on board.

On top of all this we had a huge hall rental with catering by the members. All in all it was a great day for the participation of the members of Orchard Beach. I want to thank all the volunteers for doing their part to make it a lucrative and succesful day for the Orchard Beach Volunteer Fire Department.

Units: Engine 112, Squad 11, Ambulance 119, Paramedic 11, Chief 11
