On tuesday night at 18:58 hours, Station 11 was alerted for an MVC with injuries on Solly Rd @ Nabbs Creek Rd. Before being alerted, a large explosion was heard and a power outage was experienced at Company 11. Upon arrival, Lt. 11 (Mattison) reported that a car had struck a high tension power pole and that it had come down across Solley Rd. After sizeup, one patient was found laying face down on the ground. Ambulance 11 and Medic 30 then assumed patient care while Engine 112 and Brush 11 extinguished 2 brush fires that had been started by sparking transformers during the power surge. The patient was then transported by Medic 30 to Shock Trauma priority 1. Battalion Chief 2 had the
command. Units were placed available @ 19:43 hours. During the incident, it was discovered that the power surge caused a large scale power outage across the Pasadena area.
