Squad Runs Two Alarm Dwelling Fire

Just after 4:00 a.m. on Friday morning firefighters were dispatched to a reported dwelling fire in the 700 block of Partridge Lane. The first arriving firefighters found a two story single family dwelling with fire on the front porch extending to the second floor and roof area and requested a second alarm. Fifty firefighters brought the fire under control in about 20 minutes. Investigators from the Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit have determined the fire to be accidental and caused by improperly disposed of smoking materials. Damages are estimated at approximately $50,000. Smoke alarms were present in the dwelling and activated. There were no injuries however the occupants were displaced and were making their own arrangements.
