March 15, 2015

Around 11:40 on Saturday evening firefighters were dispatched to a report of smoke in the dwelling in the 7800 block of Leymar Drive. Firefighters arrived to locate a basement fire which was contained to the basement and brought under control in about 30 minutes. Investigators from the Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit have determined the fire to be accidental in nature. The occupants of the house were alerted to the fire by working smoke alarms which provided them time to safely evacuate the dwelling. There were no injuries and damages are estimated at $50,000. The Red Cross assisted four occupants with relocation.
